About this e-Book

Human beings are always moving — forward or backward. Rarely do we stay the same. Psychologists have long studied progression and regression, not only in individuals but in groups, communities, and nations. At our best, we lean into growth, complexity, compassion, and responsibility. At our worst, we collapse into fear, simplicity, tribalism, and blind loyalty.

This resource is a companion to my four-part podcast series "Polarization, Trump Victories, & the Story of Human Progression (& Regression)." In those conversations, I explored how cycles of maturity and immaturity play out not only in our inner lives but also across political movements, faith traditions, and cultural shifts. What we often witness in headlines and history books is not just “politics as usual,” but psychological dynamics unfolding on a collective stage.

We live in a moment of upheaval. Many people feel destabilized by polarization, disillusioned by leadership, and uncertain about the future. My hope is that this resource gives language to what you may already be feeling — and that it helps you see regression for what it is, while also equipping you with tools to choose a path of progression.
